Bio
The Cape Town Festival is the original South African festival promoting tolerance and understanding between diverse communities. Established in 1999, the Cape Town Festival has a track record of empowering communities, discovering talent and creating a platform for community artists. The Cape Town Festival supports a multitude of artistic disciplines, including music, performing arts, dance and visual arts. Over the years, it has developed from a three-day main festival into a series of interventions over several months in a range of communities.
Over the past 14 years, the Cape Town Festival has showcased some of the most prominent names in South African music and dance, including Hugh Masekela, Judith Sephuma, Vicky Sampson, The Soweto Gospel Choir, The Rudimentals, HHP, Big Nuz, The Rockets, Freshlyground, Nomfusi Gotyana, Sons of Sellassie, Pops Mohamed, Dizu Plaatjies and many others. If you support local music, local job-creation and a more tolerant and integrated city of Cape Town, then this festival is for you.
