Di Elite is a Malawian Afro, reggea and dancehall group from Malawi.
The group was formed by brothers Teebs, Jeelz and Ishan Cyapital in 2010 in Malawi. In 2016 they linked up with Ghanian Producer and vocalist Desert Eagle to complete a unique afro pop fusion of Reggae and dancehall sounds. The four artists also have active solo careers of their own, the twins "Teebs and Jeelz" curtain raised for Shaggy in 2011 at the Zanzibar Film Festival (Zif). Desert Eagle, veteran hip hop artist, producer and turn Reggae dancehall vocalist, produced one of the biggest Riddims in Malawi which featured the cream on
the Malawian Reggae/Dancehall scene.
Young brother to the twins "Ishan Cyapital" is a vocalist and songwriter, his singles abandoned ship and one time have enjoyed airplay and is yet to drop his debut album. Coming from a musical town of Balaka the group were influenced by local acts like Lucius Banda, Paul Banda and Mulaka Malilo. Already in a musical family the boys were also nurtured by uncle Tacky T, who introduced them to Jamaican Ragga and dancehall music from the lights of Shaba Ranks, jSean Paul and
Shaggy. Desert Eagle, also from a music family, sang in church with his brother who is a famous hip hop
producer based in the United States Of America.
The groups first single "Ineyo", produced by Desert Eagle and voiced by Jeelz and Ishan Cyapital, is a bilingual song which describes the group as having a unique identity and not changing to please others. Ineyo ndi Ineyo is Chichewa for "I am who I am". "My time is now", a collaboration with songtress Tuno has also been a success on the Malawian urban music scene. The group are now working on their debut album which promises to be a masterpiece and something we should all look out for.
