Malawi: Ishan Cyapital releases On My Way single
Malawian dancehall singer Ishan Cyapital has released a new single titled ‘On My Way’.
The track was written and produced by Ishan Cyapital and Martin Anjelz, respectively, while its video was shot by VJ Ken in the Balaka township, where Ishan Cyapital was born and raised.
“The song was inspired by my beloved cousin Shakeela Pillane who passed away on 14 July 2021 while we were shooting a music video of my first song off the AWOL: African Way of Life album,” Ishan Cyapital told Music In Africa.
“Shakeela was an amazing soul who always made time for others, and may her soul rest in eternal peace. The song is about not giving up on yourself and staying strong on the journey of life. ‘On My Way’ is a reggae song voiced on the Happy Hour Riddim. It's a track about spiritual, physical and mental resilience.”
Ishan Cyapital draws influence from his brothers Teebz and Jeelz and his uncle Tackie T. His career kicked off in 2007 following the release of his debut single ‘Tick-Tock’, which was produced by rapper Sean Loc of Sean Loc Entertainment.
In 2009, Ishan Cyapital and Sean Loc worked on another song titled ‘Paranoid’ featuring local R&B singer Theo Thompson. Besides music, Ishan Cyapital is an actor and co-owns the 360 Media Company with Teebz and Jeelz.
