Jonathan Niyomugaba
Bio
Niyomugaba Jonathan is a communicator and expert in cultural and creative arts with a bachelor's degree in Arts and Publishing from the National University of Rwanda (NUR), obtained in 2010. Since 2013, he has worked at the Rwanda Academy of Language and Culture, which is responsible for safeguarding culture and developing cultural and creative industries. Since 2014, he has participated in the organization of the first Regional Festival of Dance and Cultural Exchange, known as JAMAFEST; served on the steering committee for three sessions of the Pan-African Dance Festival, known as FESPAD; and contributed to the steering committee for the Rwandan cultural event known as Umuganura (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016).
Niyomugaba led quantitative and qualitative research related to Rwandan cultural weddings, traditional beliefs, and the origins of place names. He served in the Department of Culture Development as acting Director for more than two years, from 2019 to 2021, before it merged to become a new institution called the Rwanda Cultural Heritage Academy. He is currently a specialist in charge of the development of creative arts federations in the Ministry of Youth and Culture.
