Marcy Kimanzi

Marcy Kimanzi is a drummer & percussionist born and bred in Nairobi, Kenya. She has worked with artists and bands including the Great African Caravan team which was a collaboration of global artists to create world music addressing climate change. Kimanzi was the first African to win the global Hit Like a Girl Contest award in 2021. She is also a brand ambassador of Paiste. She teaches drum lessons and does live performances. Marcy is the founder of AFEDAPE (African Female Drummers And Percussionists) which is an initiative that seeks to inspire and empower women to step into traditionally male-dominated platforms.
She created a blog ( https://afedapeofficial.wordpress.com ) that shares the story of female instrumentalists and also talks about the history of African music. Miss Kimanzi’s ultimate goal is to impact lives through her faith in God and drumming skills.
