Mzwabantu Kondile, professionally known as MzeeSax, is a renowned jazz musician, saxophonist, and composer hailing from Uitenhage (also known as Keriage) in the Eastern Cape. His music is a profound embodiment of spirituality, culture, and love, reflecting his deep connection to his roots.
MzeeSax's passion for music began at a tender age, serving as an organist at his local church. His formal music education commenced in 2007 at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, where he became an integral part of the NMMU Jazz Ensemble as a pianist. This marked the beginning of his remarkable journey, transforming from a live performing musician to a skilled recording artist.
Throughout his career, MzeeSax has recorded numerous singles, available on all major online platforms. Notable releases include his latest jazz single, "Ubomi Bentaka," as well as acclaimed compositions "Thulasizwa" and "Good Old Times." His collaborations with various artists and bands across provinces have been impressive, working with esteemed groups such as the Uitenhage Oldies Jazz Band, Jazz About Cape Town, and The Conquerors Reggae Band from Cape Town.
Recently, MzeeSax joined the prestigious South African National Jazz Orchestra, conducted by the legendary McCoy Mrubata. He has also had the privilege of working alongside talented artists, including Nqondo Vena, Lefa Mosea, Leon Van Wyk, Inzima Dolophini, and Bukeka Sam.
MzeeSax's performance portfolio boasts an array of notable events and festivals. In 2024, he took to the stage at the Nelson Mandela Bay Theatre Complex and NMBM Programme Launch in Keriage (Uitenhage). Previous performances include the 2022 Nyosi Wildlife Reserve Launch, Francaise Alliance Street Music Festival, and NMBM, as well as the 2020 Pitso's Kitchen Lockdown.
