Nonhle Mthethwa

Nonhle Mthethwa is the youngest (as of April 2016) gospel musician in Swaziland who was brought up in a musical family. Her parents Mabandla and Amazing are both gospel artists. She attended Beaufort Nazerene Primary in Manzini and performs at various events every weekend. She recorded her first CD when she was seven years age while in Grade two. Her debut album was released on 3 March 2012 at the Divine Healing Ministries in Manzini while doing Grade three.

In 2011, she landed a record deal with a South African company called Prestige Music. The youngster was spotted while performing at the Trade Fair. In 2012, there was a concern by the public that cited her parents were exploiting her and that she was being deprived of an opportunity to grow up like a normal child. They argued that her parents are making money out of her. They were concerns that she was spending more time rehearsing at the expense of focusing on her school work. Meanwhile, her parents refuted the claims citing that all the proceedings were benefiting their daughter alone.

In 2013, her company Nonhle Music Company unveiled and produced a new gospel group Hholomi Free Evangelical Alliance under their stable. The group released an album titled ‘Liyez’ Ilanga Labangcwele’. The group features her mother. That same year, her company lined up over 20 gospel artists for Nonhle Mthethwa’s CD Launch. Some of the gospel artists who were included at the CD launch include Come to Jesus, Police Gospel Messengers, Make Maculuve, Gcina Masuku, Apostle Maculuve and Swazi Gospel Messengers among others.

The album is now available in the country’s leading record shops. The list of the shops includes Lucky Save Mbabane, Mgavuza both in Manzini and Mbabane, Radio Shop and 5 to 5 in Manzini.

Her music business came to a standstill when her father, Mabandla Mthethwa, was involved in a car accident and the car he was driving was a written-off. In 2015, director of J&I Bridal Boutique Irene Dlamini offered a car at a very low price to the family in support of the young artist’s music.
