Bio

Born on 27 March 1986 in Lusaka, Zambia, Nyemba (real name Maria Nyemba) is a female Afro-RnB musician from Zambia. She is a fast rising singer and songwriter under the prominent Zambian record label, Ikonik Music. At the age of 10, Nyemba realized she wanted to regard music as her career. She started off as a rapper until a friend convinced her to sing. She has been recording independently until she signed with Ikonik in 2014.

She has worked with some of the established Zambian artists such as Cactus Agony, Dandy Krazy & Tyce Zig, Ikonik artists Tony Shuk & ProSyd and many others. She has shared the stage with Fally Ipupa and Zahara. Her music has earned her a household name in the music industry.

Nyemba was nominated at the Zee Awards for the Best Upcoming Artist, Best RnB and Best Female categories. She was also a nominee in the Best Female Upcoming category at the 2015 Born and Bred Awards. Her single ‘Yelele’ was aired on MTV Base. She has opened up for renowned Democratic Republic of Congo's rhumba artist Fally Ipupa and Ugandan comedian Annie Kensiime, as well as having collaborated with the legendary Zambian artist Maureen Lilanda, rapper Beflow, Ugandan artist Mron. She has has worked with Cleo the Ice Queen on an all-female single.

The fast uprising Zambian musician Maria Nyemba has continued to showcase her talent to Africa. In 2015, she was invited in Harare, Zimbabwe to perform at the 2015 Zimbabwe Fashion Week where the legendary Oliver Mtukudzi was launching a new fashion clothing line. Having performed with Zimbabwe’s renowned singer, Cindy Munyavi on an acoustic set, Nyemba who’s signed to Ikonik Music Management left the audience broken into rapturous applause when she performed on the night on which ‘Hello’ a single off her ‘Mutima Wanga’ album was one of the favorites.
In June 2015, she launched her debut EP (extended play) album.
