Born into a musically talented family daughter of Ras Kimono NIGERIAN/ AFRICAN Legendary Reggae Icon Oge Kimono proves that music flows in her veins and is. carving a niche for herself in the reggae and dance-hall scene in the Nigerian music industry. Known as OGE KIMONO on stage, Ogechukwu Nwamaka Onwubuya was born on the 14th day of August 1985 in Ikeja, Lagos State. She is the first offspring of the Rub A Dub Master whose interest in music started at the tender age of ten. She started singing as a hobby and eventually joined the school choir in her days of high school up until 2003 when she picked it up professionally with the encouragement of her father. Her vocal prowess gained her spots as backup vocalist for quite a number of reggae icons across the world including Tuklan, Ade Bantu, Uwe Banton who are based in Germany and Rocky Dawuni a known Ghanian act based in U.S.A also not to forget Ras Kimono her father, who groomed her. She has been on world class stages where she shared the spotlight with the likes of Beenie Man, Damian Marley and Nas, Luciano, Turbulence to mention a few. Having released several singles such as Drum and Bass, Main Chick, Addicted to mention a few Oge Kimono released a 10-track debut album titled Good Ole Days in loving memory of her father on the 10th of June 2019 to celebrate his one year memorial. The album garnered a lot of positive response both from the media, her fans and her father's fans who transferred their love to her and her style of reggae music as she continues to promote her songs and album across the nation. Preaching the message of love, equality and justice which remains the foundation of the Legacies her father left behind, Oge Kimono continues to carry the mantle and torch. She currently sits as the youngest board member on the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) as she continues to blaze the trail for females in the reggae genre.
