Ornella Kayitaba
Bio
Ornella Kayitaba is a curator at Sofar Sounds. A global movement that creates intimate live music experiences in surprising locations. With Sofar Kigali, she has worked with nearly 80 talented artists mostly from Rwanda, and has organized 23 events in different locations, each one offering a unique experience.
Ornella is also currently working as a Music Teacher at Virunga Valley Academy, an American Christian School in the Northern Province, Musanze. At Virunga Valley Academy, she teaches Music Theory, instruments, and vocal skills to students of all ages, encouraging their love for music.
She also partners with different organizations as an event planner to curate more live music experiences, providing artists with more platforms to perform and spreading the joy of music to new audiences, such as Masozera Africa. Additionally, she founded Room For Art Charity, a non-profit organization that aims to support small NGOs through entertainment, by giving them the spotlight and funds raised through events. This initiative serves as a way of giving back to the community, bringing artists together to celebrate and encourage these NGOs, as they perform and raise funds in support.
Her academic background is in computer Science, which she studied in China.
