RAIN IN APRIL is a dynamic Afro-Fusion duo composed of TOBY REIN & APRIL RIDIMM, the duo represents a kaleidoscope of musical influences and genres, seamlessly blended together to create a unique and mesmerizing sound. Drawing inspiration from Afrobeat, R&B, reggae, and soul, the duo effortlessly navigates these diverse genres, forging a new path that is distinctly their own.
The narrative commences within a secondary school situated in Bayelsa, Nigeria, where two young enthusiasts of music crossed paths within a classroom, TOBY REIN was a hip hop head who practiced audio engineering at church and APRIL RIDIMM was a multi talented/versatile instrumentalist.
They bonded over their shared love for music production and soon started making beats together on their keyboards after school.
As they progressed through their journey, TOBY REIN and APRIL RIDIMM began to realize that their different styles of music could be blended together to create something unique.
Amid the onset of the rainy season in April 2021, RAIN IN APRIL emerged from immersive recording sessions orchestrated in the oil rich city of Port-Harcourt. Guided by their devoted A&R manager, Bereze, they embarked on the journey to craft their inaugural self-titled EP.
Their music serves as evidence of the potency of music in conveying the youthful and dynamic African spirit. Beyond their musical prowess, they embody a captivating brand that celebrates the allure of Nigerian youth. With Afro-Fusion as their primary genre the duo has been able to stylishly blend into the underground scene with their multifaceted sound, with a wide appeal from a range of listeners, the duo has been able to gather a total of 500k+ streams across all platforms with their first 2 singles (Free Me & Dia- monds).
