Sally Nyundo
Bio
Sally Nyundo is a reggae artist from Malawi. He was born Bernard Nyundo in 1976. He started learning how to play the guitar when he was a teenager. His career as a musician started in 1994 when he joined Imagez Band. He spent six years in the band, playing the guitar and providing main vocals.
In 2001, he went solo and launched his debut album called 'Nyimbo'. The album featured the popular song ‘Rasi Amadya Nzimbe’ (Rastas Eat Sugar Cane). The song celebrates the Rastafarian culture. It was voted the best video by Television Malawi. Today, Nyundo has seven albums to his credit namely: ‘Nyimbo’, ‘Bimbi Overstanding’, ‘Usadandaule Malawi’, ‘Nyasa Reggae Revolution’, ‘Tingoti Phee’, ‘Sing Pon It’ and ‘Riddim’.
He is a regular performer and has performed with a number of local artists such as Matafale, Black Missionaries, Lucius Banda, Tay Grin, Skeffa Chimoto and Mafunyeta. He has also staged international shows with musicians such as Israel Vibrations, Kanda Bongo Man, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Baobab and Salif Keita. He has held concerts in Reunion Island, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Kenya.
