Schia

Bio

Natashia Akonnor, known as Schia, is a rising Ghanaian star with a unique blend of rap and melody. Hailing from the picturesque town of Ada Ningo, Schia's passion for music was evident from an early age. She would steal the spotlight with her captivating performances in school singing and dancing competitions. After recognizing her talent, her father enrolled her in a dance school to hone her skills.
During these formative years, Schia first fell in love with the art of performance, and the influence of iconic artists like Michael Jackson left an indelible mark on her young heart.

Influences from Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Sarkodie, Efya, and Tems paved Schia's musical journey. These legendary artists ignited a fire within her and inspired her to pursue a music career. However, she felt a void in the African music industry, particularly female rap. It wasn't until 2022 that she summoned the courage to explore her writing skills. She started with freestyle covers of songs such as Kwesi Arthur's "Drama" and "Last Last" by Burna Boy. Through freestyles and determination, she discovered her unique sound and style, setting the stage for her remarkable journey in music.

While rap is Schia's brand, her music is far from one-dimensional. Her artistry seamlessly blends various genres, creating a vibrant and eclectic sonic landscape. After a year of dropping freestyles and covers on social media, she debuted in 2023 with "La Vida Loca." Love is the central theme of Schia's debut single, "La Vida Loca." This song holds a special place in her heart, signifying a healing journey. Initially conceived as "pain relief" to cope with past struggles, "La Vida Loca" evolved into a profoundly positive anthem, reflecting the artist's newfound mental strength and happiness. The talented producer Jayso brought "La Vida Loca" to life. Together, they crafted a song that embodies Schia's essence and vision, setting the stage for her exciting musical journey.
