Sigauque Project
Bio
Sigauque Project's musical influences span across Africa – from a new take on Mozambican marrabenta to Senegalese mbalakh and Nigerian afro-beat, and even samba, with some smooth sounding jazz thrown in the mix. The Sigauque Project sound is a pan-African musical journey; most of the songs were originally created and recorded working with talented musicians across the content as part of CMFD Productions media for social change projects. High-quality music with popular appeal combine with hard-hitting lyrics tackling some of Africa’s most pressing issues - xenophobia, rights, rebuilding after a disaster, health, violence against women.
The live-performing Sigauque Project band features two singers, a full horn section, backed by throbbing bass and rhythmic percussion, for a show is not to be missed. The band has appeared at popular festivals like Swaziland’s renowned Bushfire festival and Africa Day Johannesburg. The song Alertos Da Vida was selected for Rough Guide’s Best African Music You've Never Heard. The Live CD/ DVD recording is available online.
Sigauque Project is based in Johannesburg, South Africa and Maputo, Mozambique.
