Tuma vs Asali
Bio
In late 2013, music producer Chris Swai teamed up with singer Asali Msanii, and also with a marketing consultant from TTMAgency, to form the group 'Tuma vs Asali'.
After a few months of working together, the group released their first Single EP in August of 2014 titled "Stalker". The release which featured 5 versions, each with a radio friendly mix and a club-format mix, received radio and club play in several countries across the globe. (USA, Canada, Kenya, UK, Australia, Netherlands, Germany, ++) 'Tuma vs Asali' went on to make the SDC Radio Networks Top 50 Artists of 2014.
In December of the same year, 'Tuma vs Asali' released their 2nd single titled "Johnni", this time in conjunction with the Art Directors & Copywriters Club of Kenya (ADCC Kenya). The song which speaks out against gender based violence (GBV), aims to inspire the protective instinct in men and to urge the big brother ('Johnni') in all decent men to arise and defend vulnerable women everywhere.
The song gave rise to the 'I WILL BE JOHNNI' social campaign and movement (www.johnni.org), which was launched in April 2015, with the involvement of several contributing partners as listed on the campaign website.
On 17 July 2017 the group released a new music video titled "Baby Moto".
