Kaabi Kouyaté is an artist from Canada.
Hailing from a family of celebrated griots, Kaabi Kouyaté continues the tradition of tying the past to the present while thrilling audienes with his charismatic performances. With a career spanning over 40 years, having recorded and toured with Jazz greats including Randy Weston, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Cheick Tidiane Seck, Kaabi has taken the traditional vocal prowess of the Mandingo griots and defined a unique style of Jazz-Mandingue/Mandingue-Pop that is his own.
Renowned for his enchanting voice which has made him one of the most popular ambassadors of Guinean culture, the talented multi-instrumentalist and composer has created works for albums as well as stage plays, where he has also made his mark as an actor. His impressive knowledge of music and diverse musical influences have made it possible for him to transcend the limits of world music
Having accomplished his ambition of telling his father's story in the award winning documentary "La Trace de Kandia" (2014: A Laurent Chevallier Film) and after years as a touring musician, Kaabi returned to the studio and is happy to present Djon-Dagna, his new solo single - a musical experience which reflects on the future.
