
Call for applications: Art and politics fellowship in the US
The Vera List Center (VLC) for Art and Politics in New York is accepting fellowship applications for its 2020-22 cycle.

The fellowship is in partnership with The New School, a private research university based in New York, and supports individuals whose work advances the discourse on art and politics. The fellowship is part-time, non-residential, and extends over two years.
Three successful fellows are provided with an opportunity to research and develop a project drawing from the curatorial, academic and professional resources of the VLC and The New School.
The final project will be presented to the public through the VLC’s interdisciplinary public programmes and organisational networks.
Who can apply?
This call is open to:
- Performing and visual artists.
- Journalists.
- Scholars.
- Activists.
- Critics.
- Public intellectuals.
- Curators.
- Cultural practitioners working in any field where they engage in art and politics.
“We strongly encourage applications from diverse candidates across the world and we welcome applications from individuals without institutional affiliation,” VLC said.
The application deadline is 15 March 2020 and successful fellows will be announced on 15 June.
VLC will provide the fellows with:
- A $15 000 stipend as well as extensive curatorial and professional development services to support the research, scholarship and creative work of the project from conception to production and presentation.
- Extensive library privileges.
- Meetings and informal gatherings with The New School faculty, past fellows and other constituencies.
- Additional travel allowance to undertake short-term residencies, to engage with VLC’s curatorial team and take full advantage of benefits.
