Joe Simalonda better known by his stage name as J2 is a contemporary gospel singer from Zambia. His Name J2 simply means Joe Jesus. His music career began in May 2002 when he became a born again. In 2003, he and three other friends formed a music group. As a group they went around singing in different churches and recorded a single which got some radio airplay. The group didn't last long. J2 later joined another group of eight singers that contributed to his development in his He has written for the college fellowship choir and other local artists.
In 2008, he met Pettidee at the "Out the Box‟ Gathering in Lusaka where Pettidee was guest artist. They later collaborated on J2's album bonus track 'Butter Butter'. Between 2009 and 2010 recorded an album but did not release it. Some of his albums include 'Till Dreams Do Us Part' (released on 17 December 2013). The music project features artists like Mag44, Abel Chungu, Pompi and Gospel hip-hop veteran Pettidee on the bonus Track 'Butter Butter'.
