Yope Remix records 100 million YouTube views

This achievement was announced by Diamond Platnumz's record label, Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB). "New East African record on YouTube. 'Yope Remix' is the first video to reach 100 million views on YouTube in 10 months after its release on 7 September 2019. We thank our stakeholders and the media for support. Next hit is on the way," WCB said on Instagram.

Innoss'B wrote: "Do not let anyone discourage you, continue to believe in the beauty of your dream, everything is possible. Today, the biggest Congolese song and one of the top in Africa is a song by a young artist without an album, producer, a gold record, etc. Thank you Diamond Platnumz for believing in this song."

'Yope Remix' received more than 2 million in the first 48 hours after its release and was named Best Collaboration at the 2019 African Talent Awards in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. In East Africa, the song won in the Best Song from Francophone Africa category at the 2020 edition of the HiPipo Music Awards, where Diamond Platnumz also won the Tanzania Best Act and East Africa Super Hit awards.

The original version of the song was released in August 2019. It earned Innoss'B a nomination at the 2020 BET Awards in the Best International Act category, which was won by Nigeria's Burna Boy. 

With the new achievement Diamond Platnumz continues to reach new heights in the African music industry. He recently became the first musician in sub-Saharan Africa to amass more than 1 billion views on YouTube. His latest music 'Quarantine' has enjoyed more than 9 million views since its release in May.

Other notable African songs that have hit 100 million views on YouTube include 'Pana' by Tekno, 'Fall' by Davido, 'Johnny' by Yemi Alade and 'Come Closer' by Wizkid and Drake.
