Black Coffee embarks on epic world tour
DJ Black Coffee has over the past 10 years established himself as the biggest name in South African house music. In recent years his international audience has grown, particularly in Europe. Now he is taking his career to the next level with his recently announced world tour.
The tour kicks off this week in the Middle East with gigs in Doha and Dubai on 9 and 10 April and will wrap up in August in Greece. It will see the DJ (real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo) criss-crossing the globe over five months, performing on four continents (Europe, Asia, North America and South America).
The upcoming trip include gigs on three continents in three days – he’ll be in Rome on 14 May, Bogota in Columbia the next day and Toronto in Canada the day after that. 11 July will see him perform in two different countries on the same day – the Netherlands and Italy. He’ll also be performing in party capitals such as New York, London, Ibiza, Berlin and Amsterdam.
Expressing his excitement on twitter this week, Black Coffee wrote: “Excited to announce that I’ll be on a Summer Tour playing dates across the World.Thank you for the Love and Support.”
It’s been reported that the jet-setting DJ’s pregnant wife, Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, will accompany him for part of the trip. Recent reports that the star’s gruelling travel schedule might see him relocate overseas were recently put down by his manager, Amaru Da Costa of Soulistic Music.
