Suitable candidates must demonstrate in depth knowledge of music, particularly Zimbabwean music genres, production, instrumentation as well as the creative process. Ideal candidates will have experience in Music in one or more of the following areas: production, academia, journalism, promotion/management, and performance. The Zimbabwe Music Awards prides itself on transparent, fair and accurate judging. Members of the adjudication panel will be closely scruitinized and required to abide by the ZIMA code of ethics while performing their duties as adjudicators.
Adjudication has been an issue of great contention with most awards ceremonies, as there have been questions regarding the choice of adjudicators and the nomination processes. According to ZIMA spokesperson Farai Chapoterera: “In 2014 we selected adjudicators based on our experience with various musical experts across the country. However, we believe that it would be enough for us to assume that we have knowledge of all experts that could serve as adjudicators for ZIMA, that is why we have launched this exercise. Our aim is to come up with a panel that fully represents the numerous music genres as well as the country’s regions.”
Interested candidates should send their CV and a brief motivational letter (detailing why they believe they are suitably qualified to sit on the adjudication panel) to tafara@zimawards.co.zw or kganya@zimawards.co.zw
Applications close on Friday 15 May 2015. Any applications received after the closing date will not be accepted.
The Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) are Zimbabwe’s premier music awards ceremony. They recognize musical excellence and provide a multi-faceted celebration of Zimbabwe’s rich cultural diversity. ZIMA was launched in 2003 after the realization that the music industry lacked an appropriate platform to honour its outstanding performers. Beyond recognizing the accomplishments of Zimbabwean musicians, ZIMA aims to create platforms for the development of artists through various activities and partnerships so they can become more competitive in international markets. ZIMA thus aims to bring respectability and sustainability to Zimbabwe's music industry.
