Nigerian stars to headline South African concert for continental unity
Nigeria’s biggest stars are set to jet into South Africa next month to perform at a new concert to promote African unity, alongside local and regional talent. Dubbed the ‘South Africa Meets Africa Concert’, it’s due to go down on 24 October at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg.
The concert will see a colossal line-up of Africa’s finest live acts descend on the city of gold for one unforgettable night of festivities. In celebrating unity amongst all African nations and in honour of Nigeria’s Independence Day taking place in October, the concert will allow 20 of the biggest headliners the continent has to offer to come together for the first annual ‘SMA’ concert.
South African fans will get a chance to see some of the biggest acts on the continent when the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Flavour, Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Runtown, Darey and more visit Mzansi. Talented Mozambican diva Dama Do Bling is also on the bill, as is South African-based Naija rapper Emmy Gee.
These international stars will join top local talent in AKA, K.O, the Soweto Gospel Choir, Bucie, Uhuru, Anatii and rising stars Durban Nyts.
The concert will be hosted by Metro FM DJ T’bo Touch, who will be joined by Nigerian music industry pioneer and Beat FM host Olisa Odibua. Official DJs in the mix include DJ Spinall and Metro FM’s DJ Jawz.
The concert is being staged by The VAS Company (TVC) South Africa and Mcomm Solutions and Services Limited Nigeria, who unveiled their plans in Johannesburg this week.
