Nominees for Ghana's BASS Awards announced

Ghanaian reggae dancehall star Stonebwoy grabs 13 nominations including Dancehall Artist of the Year, but misses out on the Reggae Artist of the Year category. He makes do with a Song of the Year and Songwriter of the year nomination, both for his hit 'Run Go'. The Album of the Year category sees Stonebwoy square uo against Knii Lante, who has seven nominations of his own. Lante's 'Loving You' is nominated for Song of the Year as well as for the Songwriter award. The song is duet with Jamaican singer Cherine Anderson.

Although focused on the Ghanaian reggae/dancehall scene, BASS Awards caters to other nationals via its International category. The forthcoming edition is dominated by Nigerian stars as Cynthia Morgan, Burna Boy and Patoranking vie for the prize.

The nominee list presents the reggae scene as dominated by males., as the only category restriced to females, Best Female Vocalist, has only two nominees MzVee and AK Songstress in contention for the award. In the major categories female nominees are few and far between, with MzVee
