Accra set to 'Phreak Out'

Well-known singer Wanlov the Kubolor of FOKN Bois performed at the first edition of Phreak Out Live in 2015. Dubstep artist Azizaa was also featured, where she put in an energetic performance. Several DJs and the band Musical Lunatics completed the line-up providing electronic and alternative music. Away from more mainstream events, the first Phreak Out Live was easily one of the more memorable music events of last year.

For the upcoming second edition, POL organisers are dividing the festival into two sections. A concert taking place at the Alliance Française Accra begins from 8pm and features Sena Dagadu of Irie Maffia, a purveyor of tropical music who was born in Accra and is currently based in Budapest, Hungary. Local artists Worlasi, Poetra, Yung Pabi, Quayaba, Kojo-Cue and King Promise will be performing as well.

Then from 11pm at the Electric Warehouse (Plot 7 Nyaniba Osu), a party with electronic DJs takes off. This section of the festival features DJ and professor Kobby Graham, who will be joined by DJs Eddy Blay and Keyzuz for dubstep, drum and bass, grime and house vibes. Fans will be able to meet with the artists performing at the concert.

The entry fee is pegged at 20 GHC (US$5). A special rate of 10 GHC ($3) applies for Alliance Francaise students and members.
