Nigeria's Temi Dollface releases video in honour of women
Nigeria’s ‘drama-soul’ exponent Temi Dollface has released a video for ‘School Your Face’. The song is taken from the 2015 self-titled EP by super-group The Collectiv3.
The release of the video ‘School Your Face’ follows the video of Poe and Funbi’s ‘Adore Her’ from the same album. Produced in celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, the video is also a tribute to the grandmother of the artist, whose real name is Samantha Temitope Phil-Ebosie.
Described as “a humorous tale about the ancient battle between head and heart,” the video features Temi playing both the eccentric no-nonsense Sergeant Temi as well as a young love-smitten Temi. Both characters are, according to an official statement, “representative of a hard/soft duality that women strive to attain.”
According to Temi Dollface, her grandmother may have inspired the no-nonsense character as "in her day she was a trailblazer for female empowerment and mentorship, so who better to play the role she has always played, in my life and art? Plus she does a brilliant 'schooled' face."
The video, shot wholly in Lagos, was directed by Damola Adelaja. It was produced and styled by Temi DollFace. The song itself, written by Temi Dollface, was produced by Tee-Y Mix.
