Music discovery platform Rocket Songs relaunches website

Rocket Songs is an online platform for musicians around the world who want to discover, license and record unreleased original songs from leading songwriters. The two-way marketplace provides a platform for songwriters to get paid for their work, while also providing a resource for artists to gain access to professionally written compositions, to record, remix or remaster them.

Artists can search by anything from tempo to mood and purchase the level of licensing required according to their preference, such as no-vocal tracks and individual instrument stems, or buy a complete song. Songs all fall under a single licence, making purchasing less complex. Artists can change the song’s genre, adjust the lyrics and melody, and translate it into a new language, all under the same agreement. The artist and songwriter share future royalties from any commercial release of the recording.

The company says the changes to its website include a cleaner interphase and improved mobile performance, an improved search tool and new pricing schedule, as well as new revenues and opportunities for content providers and songwriters.

"Our goal with this relaunch was to make it straightforward and affordable for people to find the right song and type of song for their musical careers,” Rocket Songs co-founder and CEO John Cesario said. “We know a lot of effort, love, time and money can go into releasing a single, we just want to make it easier."

Rocket Songs co-founder, president and creative director Jonathan Stone said: “One key element of our business is that if you are a recording or performing artist, and you can’t write and record a song from scratch, we offer you not just the composition but the entire music bed. If you hear a song in our catalogue and you think you can sing the heck out of it, you can purchase an upfront licence, download the music bed from our website into your DAW and record your own voice on it.”

Rocket Songs was founded by Cesario and Stone in 2017. The platform’s songwriters and content providers have worked with artists such as Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson.
