Call for entries: 2021 Mzantsi Jazz Awards in SA
The organisers of the Mzantsi Jazz Awards are calling on jazz musicians and recording companies to submit entries ahead of the awards ceremony on 28 August.
Artists and recording companies should submit work produced from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021.
Nominations may be submitted online by completing a nomination form here. The nominees will be announced on 30 June.
“We recognise the role of jazz music as a genre that deserves a special attention in the evolving South African music industry,” the Mzantsi Jazz Awards said. “The purpose is to celebrate, appreciate and venerate jazz as a musical form that not only entertains but also uplifts and heals the artist and the listener alike.”
The awards categories include:
- Best Jazz Album
- Best Contemporary Jazz Album
- Best Female Jazz Artist
- Best Male Jazz Artist
- Best Foreign Jazz Artist
- Best Jazz Song
- Best International Collaboration Jazz Album
- Best Jazz Club
- Best Radio Station Playing Jazz Music
- Best Newcomer in Jazz
- Best Traditional Jazz Album
