Gambia's Bai Babu returns home from American tour
Gambian artist Bai Babu has returned home from a North America tour.
The tour also included Senegalese artist Pape Diouf and was organised by Prince Art with in collaboration with New African Production.
Both Bai Babu and Pape Diouf performed in various venues during the tour which began on 7 July and lasted till 11 August. About a fortnight after the tour ended, DJ Lana, who is manager at Joluv Entertainment, spoke to the media about the tour.
He explained that Bai Babou and Pape Diouf were both contracted to play in The Gambia and the performance was wonders and amazing. “After that concert Pape invited Bai who had a spectacular performance. The show was recorded.” This led to the artists collaborating on the US tour.
Bai Babu, said before the North American tour, they toured the sub-regional by performing in Senegal and Mauritania. He said that the tour was two-phased in that they played for the Senegambia community and were also introduced to three festivals.
According to him, the performances with in the Senegambia community he was a guest artist, but in festivals he represented Gambia.
He added that on 7 July they played in New York. Two days later they played in Alabama and then proceeded to Canada for a Music Heaven Festival annually held in Montreal.
The last festival was Agana Festival in Philadelphia, where the mayor conveyed his appreciation of the music.
“We are also planning to have a show in Gambia and Senegal,” Bai Babu said. “Watch out for more collaboration with Pape Diouf and Bai Babou.”
