Call for applications: Fak'ugesi Festival curator in SA
Fak'ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival is seeking an experienced festival curator to work alongside its team for an initial eight months.
The festival curator will provide lead programme and ensure sound management of the overall festival activities.
Requirements
The successful candidate will lead and implement the Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival in 2021. This will include:
- Work from Johannesburg, South Africa, at the Tshimologong Innovation Precinct.
- Work with management to develop and implement the festival strategy.
- Curate the overall festival programme in line with a theme, industry trends and partners strategic objectives and goals.
- Input on festival marketing and communications strategy.
- Assist the business development unit with leads and proposal write-up for fundraising.
- Engage project managers, producers and communications hires in the implementation of the festival.
- Working with institutional partners, community members, artists and intermediaries to implement the festival programme.
- Compile reports for all committees, funders and partners.
- Manage the festival team and communities.
- Monitor finance and ensure efficient budget management.
- Manage all stakeholder relationships.
- Engage in other ad hoc activities related to the festival as and when required.
Experience
- Must have at least five years’ experience in programming and event management, particularly in the arts sector, with a preference for digital creative industries experience.
- Strong management and financial skills.
- Extensive knowledge in the digital creative sector both locally and internationally.
- Strong administrative and financial management skills.
- Experience in fundraising and strong negotiation skills.
- Must have an understanding of grant funding requirements and identify other potential funders.
Contract
The position is fixed-term. The festival curator will report to the head of the Tshimologong Digital Content Hub. The contract will run from April to October and will be renewable after four months.
