Zim’s Willom Tight features top African artists on new album

Titled Manifesto, the album already has a hit single, ‘African Paradox’. It was released 1 December and features Afro-beat ensemble Uhuru and Malian legendary musician Salif Keita.

Willom Tight’s label, Shamiso Music and Entertainment, has said that the album, which incorporates collaborations with artistes from Mali, Nigeria, Swaziland, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, carries nine tracks.

“The album has nine songs produced by DJ Maphorisa,” says the label spokesperson Gillbert Muvavarirwa, “who was responsible for song Soweto Babie, featuring WizKid, which won song of the year at the recently held MTV Africa Music Award in South Africa. DJ Maphorisa was also responsible for the international One Dance by Drake featuring WizKid.”

Muvavarirwa said the album was filled with the Uhuru trademark laced with African rhythms.

Tight was popular in the 2000s with the album Ndinoda Wangu, whose title track was an instant hit on radio. As his career blossomed, the musician partnered with Dino Mudondo. Together they released a string of hits including ‘Bhazi’, ‘Makoikoi’ and ‘Chirangano’.

In 2013, Tight was contracted by Shamiso Music and Entertainment based in Johannesburg, South Africa, to record the forthcoming Manifesto.
