Call for applications: Artist residency in the US
Artists in Residence in Everglades (AIRE) in the US is accepting applications for its residency programme in Florida next year.
Experiences will be tailored to the interests of each artist, creating opportunities for independence and solitude, as well as interaction, collaboration and public engagement.
“AIRIE’s mission, in partnership with the Everglades National Park, is to empower artists to think creatively and critically about their relationship to the environment with a mission of revealing new paths forward,” AIRE said.
“Throughout the 2022 season, AIRIE is investigating the question, how we can make the outdoors a space of belonging? We ask you, the artist, to engage with this theme and the natural world through your artistic practice as we build new paths forward.”
AIRE will offer residents the following:
- Up to a month-long artist residency in the Everglades National Park (in fully furnished and air-conditioned accommodations).
- Financial support through a $4 000 fellowship grant (with additional financial support for travel and food).
- Connection to scientists, researcher and practitioners working in the Everglades.
- Opportunities to connect with other AIRIE 2022 fellows.
- Public engagement opportunities through AIRIE and Everglades National Park programming, including the annual AIRIE Environment + Art Summit.
Residents will present their work created during or resulting from their residency in the following formats:
- Public conversations.
- Digital platforms.
- Writing.
- Public viewing of artwork.
Who can apply?
IRIE invites emerging or professional artists, writers, curators, choreographers, musicians and other creatives who want to contribute to the interpretation and communication of environmental themes through the inspiring nature of Everglades National Park.
The applicant must:
- Be above 21 years.
- Be pursuing research and development stage of artistic project/explorations.
- Be eligible to travel to the US.
