Deadline extended: 2021 Mzantsi Jazz Awards entries
The organisers of the Mzantsi Jazz Awards (MJAs) in South Africa have extended the deadline for this year’s entries. The initial deadline was 23 May and artists who have not submitted their entries have until until 6 June to submit their music.
The awards ceremony will be held at Soweto Theatre in Johannesburg on 28 August. Artists and recording companies can submit work produced from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021.
Nominations may be submitted online by completing a nomination form here. The nominees will be announced on 30 June.
“The MJAs committee is aware of the challenges faced by musicians, music recording companies, radio stations and clubs as well as jazz venues, and the extension is indented to allow more time to all who have started the entry process but have not yet completed the submission,” the Mzantsi Jazz Awards said.
The awards categories include:
- Best Jazz Album
- Best Contemporary Jazz Album
- Best Female Jazz Artist
- Best Male Jazz Artist
- Best Foreign Jazz Artist
- Best Jazz Song
- Best International Collaboration Jazz Album
- Best Jazz Club
- Best Radio Station Playing Jazz Music
- Best Newcomer in Jazz

All nomination process enquiries should be directed to Douglas Maximus at info@zajazzawards.co.za or on +27 12 751 7608.
