Call for applications: Artist residency in Austria
Artists in the field of sound art, video art, performance, theatre, installation or dynamic land art can now submit proposals for the 2022 minus20degree (m20d) residency programme in Salzburg, Austria.
M20d is an initiative that promotes art and architecture worldwide and seeks proposals for dynamic sound and video art that embraces the snowy landscape an endless projection surface. The project should be controversial, provocative but founded.
“M20d 2022 is dedicated to the overarching theme, Remote,” m20d says. “The theme remains undefined for the time being. Applicants have the freedom to conceptualise and interpret the theme in their own way, unaffected by any preconception. By doing this, the theme can slowly take shape during the process and all thoughts of the artists can be included in the official programme of minus20degree 2022.”
Once a project is selected by the jury, the m20d team and guest curator Kasper König will support the artist to realise their work in the requested landscape or will help them find an alternative setting.
Selected artists will receive the following:
- €1 000 ($1 200) as an artist fee.
- Production budget up to €1 600.
- Travel budget up to €400.
- Up to six nights’ accommodation (arrangements for more extended stays can be made).
- Support from the team throughout m20d22.
- Technical support.
- Professional documentation of the work.
Applicants are welcome to apply/bring additional funding from other sources to support their proposal.
Requirements
- A written proposal clearly and concisely describing the project you wish to produce, the ideas behind it and how the budget will be spent ( 2 A4 max).
- Visualisations and a technical explanation of the intervention/artwork (2 A4 max.).

The above documents should be sent to info@m20d.eu in PDF format by 14 July 2021.
