South African BET Award-winning rapper Sho Madjozi on 16 June collaborated with Nedbank as part of the YouthX Live event, which was designed to inspire young people and provide access to resources.

The collaboration coincided with Youth Day in South Africa. Sho Madjozi joined YouthX as the Arts and Entertainment Changemaker, to help young people in South Africa to unlock their potential by sharing her personal journey, life lessons and tips on managing money.
“I really had to grow quite a thick skin to be able to be here,” Sho Madjozi told local media. “I fought for myself a lot. I had to overcome bad contracts, bad faith, bad promoters and even write off some stuff as bad debts before I finally learnt everything I know now.”
The ‘John Cena’ hitmaker used the platform to share key lessons and experiences in the arts industry as a local creative whose music has achieved global success. She also performed, and participated in a panel discussion with reality TV personality Lasizwe Dambuza, Wealth Creed co-founder Gugu Sidaki and radio host Nomalanga Shozi.
“It’s great to see yet another successful YouthX Live event take place and what better way to educate and empower the South African youth than with a Youth Day celebration,” Nedbank group executive for marketing and corporate affairs Khensani Nobanda said
“As we continue with this programme, we hope that the knowledge that has been shared by our changemakers and industry experts will assist in creating unmatched opportunities for the eager youth who join our YouthX Live events. As we celebrate Youth Month, we hope that young people can learn from them and be inspired to drive positive change in their communities.”
Launched in March, YouthX is a platform that enables, educates, empowers and connects South Africa’s youth to like-minded individuals who have unlocked their potential. The programme has seen the bank partner with some of the country’s most accomplished youth changemakers to give guidance and industry expertise. Other YouthX Changemakers include The Baloyi (business and finance), Amandla Dlamini (sports and wellness), Rich Mnisi (fashion and beauty), Rivo Mhlari (tech and innovation) and Candice Chirwa (social good and sustainability).
