Call for proposals: World Alliance for Arts Education summit in the US
The World Alliance for Arts Education (WAAE) virtual global summit in the US has opened a call for proposals ahead of the event from 11 to 15 October.
The event is in partnership with the University of Florida and State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education (SEADAE). It aims to bring together arts education professionals, arts education researchers and policymakers, national, state and local education officials from across the world to share the latest research and examine quality structures, processes and practices.
The proposals should focus on student assessment or arts programme evaluation of the tracks and themes below:
- Tracks:
- Young Emerging Leaders Forum.
- Designing for Quality.
- Implementing with Fidelity.
- Methodologies and Data Analysis.
- Themes:
- Young & Emerging Leaders Forum: A Future for Leadership in Arts and Cultural Education.
- WAAE Summit: Arts Impact 2020 – Context Matters.
Proposals that expand upon the following concepts will receive priority consideration:
- Decolonising Assessment in Arts and Cultural Education.
- Assessment and Evaluation in Virtual Environments.
- Futures of Teacher Training in Assessment Literacy.
The proposals can be presented in the following formats:
- Research presentations – studies that examine any of the track areas (30 minutes max).
- Models and best practice presentations that address specific assessment models and practices focusing on quality and adaptability to multiple contexts (30 minutes max).
- Symposia – three presentations in one session on a single topic (one hour max).
- Workshops – active and engaging presentations that address a track area (one and a half hours max).
- Display sessions – a poster or other electronic format presentations of practical and research projects in a more informal, group setting, where attendees interact freely with presenters about design, analysis, findings, and resulting actions, and possible future lines of inquiry.
Requirements
- A cover letter that includes:
- The title of the paper (15 words max).
- For each presenter: name, email address, phone number, institutional affiliation, with the primary presenter identified.
- A brief description of how the presentation relates to the theme and the tracks addressed.
- One of the following statements:
- This proposal is submitted for consideration for presentation only.
- This proposal is submitted for consideration for the display session only.
- This proposal is submitted for consideration for both presentation and the display session.
- Extended abstracts or complete paper (500 - 750 words max). The organisers will consider work in progress at the time of submission if the applicant shall complete the work by the time of the summit.
Note:
- Please indicate if you want your paper considered for publication in the Summit Selected Papers.
- The cover letter and proposal must be combined into one document and submitted once.
