Gazza is top NAMAs winner
Hip hop and kwaito artist Gazza emerged the top winner at the seventh edition of the Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) in Walvis Bay on 28 and 29 April. The Friday event was designed to honour industry players while the Saturday concert celebrated the musicians.
Real name Lazarus Shiimi, Gazza earned four gongs in the Best Male Artist, Best Album of the Year and Best Collaboration categories. He was also awarded with a Special Recognition Award for his consistent work and achievements. Other big winners include newcomer Monique English who scooped the Best Female Artist of the Year Award. Sally, best known as Boss Madam, Maranatha, Doris, Young T and Oteya also had a successful night, winning two awards each. South African rapper Cassper Nyovest won the Pan-African Artist of the Year Award.
The event featured a few performances, chief among them from South African rappers Emtee and Saudi who performed with Gazza. The event was co-hosted by South African radio and TV personality Bonang Matheba and Namibian radio and TV personalities Mappz Kapofi and Uejaa Kazondunge.
