Call for applications: I Tatti residency programme in Italy
Harvard University’s centre for Italian renaissance studies, I Tatti, and the German Historical Institute are accepting applications for their joint residency programme that will be held in Rome, Italy, between 1 July and 30 June 2022.
The I Tatti fellowship offers post-doctoral scholars working on African studies (or topics that closely consider Africa) a 10-month position to conduct historical research in Italy supported by two institutes with dynamic academic communities.
The fellow will receive $60 000, plus a supplement towards relocation expenses. The participants must obtain full academic leave from their home institutions and devote full time to their studies in Italy. No fellow is allowed to have any other professional obligations, paid or unpaid. Absences for a job interview or thesis defence should be kept to a reasonable level. Appointees must write to the director for approval of absences of a week or longer.
“The project must represent advanced research in the Italian Renaissance, broadly defined historically as the period ranging from the 14th to the 17th centuries and geographically to include transnational dialogues between Italy and other cultures including Latin American, Mediterranean, African and Asian,” I Tatti said.
