Job opportunity: Creative Africa programme assistant in Belgium
Africalia is accepting applications for a programme assistant on a six-month, full-time contract for its Creative Africa (Afrique Créative) project in Brussels, Belgium.
- The application deadline is 30 September.
The ideal candidate will provide support to the management of the Creative Africa project with regard to communication and administrative and financial aspects. The contract will start on 1 November.
Key responsibilities
- Communication monitoring:
- Writing and posting of news to feed the project’s website (French/English).
- Management of the Facebook page and Instagram accounts.
- Link with the entrepreneurs of the project to relay interesting information about them and promote their activities.
- Writing of newsletters (French/English).
- Support for reporting to the donor.
- Support for the design of communication supports for the programme.
- Administrative and financial management.
- Budget and subsidy monitoring under the supervision of the coordinator.
- Analysis of partner/service provider relationships.
- Monitoring of conventions and contracts.
- Monitoring of deadlines and reminders of deadlines to concerned stakeholders.
- Support in the management of the support project:
- Contribution to the logistical organisation of joint training sessions (via Zoom).
- Writing of meeting reports.
- Support for monitoring incubates.
- Participation in the design of support tools.
- Translation of French / English materials.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must:
- Have a master's degree in management, cooperation/development, economics, communication or other discipline related to the above responsibilities.
- Have excellent communication and writing skills.
- Be organised and rigorous.
- Have the spirit of initiative and the ability to work independently and in a team.
- Have a good command of French and English.
- Be proficient in the Office suite.
- Be motivated by development issues, entrepreneurship and the cultural sector.

Afrique Créative is a support project funded by the French Development Agency and implemented by a consortium led by Africalia with I&P Conseil from the Investors and Partners group, Zhu Culture (Senegal) and Bayimba Foundation (Uganda). It aims to support African cultural and creative businesses in their development to maximise their impact locally, nationally and internationally. Its long-term objective is to encourage private and public funding mechanisms to take an interest in the cultural and creative industries active on the African continent.
