Mabhungezi

Mabhungezi is an artist from South Africa who draws inspiration from uMfaz’omnyama and would sing along his hits, mimicking him. He decided he would sing maskandi when he grows up.

Mabhungezi and his two friends Zinja Ziyamluma Mthethwa and Phila Mtshali formed a maskandi group back in kwadukuza and decided to come to Johannesburg to cut their very first demo. They got a lot of experience and exposure through performing in various public promotions around Johannesburg.

Mabhungezi started working Thokozani langa in 2008 as a back up singer and dancer until 2013. After that mabhungezi took a sabbatical from music and started working on day jobs. In 2020 he started working on the album AMABONA BONANE. Mabhungezi’s new album was officially released on the 1st of September 2021. He is very confident of this new work. He addresses topics that people like to shy away from and his message in his music is both deep and sensitive but not offensive to anyone in any way. The album has 12 tracks and was produced by Mabhungezi himself. Mabhungezi intends to work hard enough so as to be recognized and get bookings in big events in the next three to five years. He also plans to continue working on and releasing music.
