Call for proposals: 2022 Youth Expressions Festival in SA

The South African State Theatre’s department of Education, Youth and Children Theatre (EYCT) is calling on young creatives to submit proposals to be featured in its Youth Expressions Festival from 16 to 30 June 2022.

Interested creatives can submit their proposals in any of the following genres:

Music
Musical theatre
Children’s theatre
Dance/physical theatre
Drama
Poetry
Visual arts

To be considered for the festival, all proposals are required to have the following:

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 in 2022.
A motivation letter of how the production is relevant, meaningful and entertaining.
Creative team information that includes biographies and contact details.
A full script and a brief synopsis and/or a link to the video of the production.
A four-page narrative treatment (if there is no script or if it will be a dance/devised production).
For visual artists, a full portfolio is required.

In addition to the financial support, SAST will provide all selected candidates with artistic and technical support. All proposals must be submitted to eyct@statetheatre.co.za with "Youth Expressions Festival 2022" in the subject line of the e-mail.

The submission deadline is 12 November at 5pm.
