Call for applications: Market Theatre fundraiser and stakeholder manager
The Market Theatre Foundation (MTF) is seeking an experienced candidate to fill in the position of fundraiser and stakeholder engagement manager at its offices in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Oversee the fundraising activities of the MTF.
- Act as the custodian and driving force behind fundraising efforts to bring in donations by establishing excellent relationships and raising awareness and ensuring the general public maintains a favourable image of the institution.
- Create new and innovative plans for successful fundraising by being able to adapt and change strategies to meet the needs of the donor pools and keep the donations coming in.
- Develop an integrated fundraising strategy for the foundation as well as individual ones for the business unit’s research individuals, corporations and foundations.
- Identify new fundraising opportunities and donors that may be interested in partnering with the MTF.
- Effectively convey the organisation’s mission, vision and programmes to potential donors and craft grant applications and fundraising proposals.
- Strategise and successfully execute fundraising campaigns.
- Manage a budget and track whether goals being met.
- Work closely with the marketing manager to provide funder visibility in terms of grant agreements.
- Promote funder hospitality through invitations to MTF events.
- Work closely with the CFO to monitor usage of grants.
- Ensure that funders are added to the MTF’s databases and newsletters.
- Promote awareness of the organisation’s mission and work.
- Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers.
- Plan fundraising initiatives to help the organisation meet its financial goals.
- Be responsible for facilitating and coordinating engagements, partnerships and all processes relating to stakeholders.
People management
- Lead the development and implementation of stakeholder management strategies for both local and international funders.
- Promote open communication between and within departments.
- Build and maintain honest working relationships through the provision of accurate and timely information.

Minimum requirements
- Diploma in business administration, marketing or humanities/arts.
- Ideal: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or humanities/arts.
- Proven track record of fundraising R5m per annum.
- Minimum five years of experience.
- Recognised as a fundraiser in industry.
- English communication at a high level – both written and oral.
- Fundraising and donor communications.
- English communication at a high level.
- South African Fundraising Institute certificate.
- Financial certificate beneficial.
