OutreMer Film

Specializing in documentary and hand-picked feature films, OutreMer is dedicated to the adventure of the real - and beyond. 'OutreMer' is an ancient word for things that are beyond, figuratively and literally. OutreMer's team is made of director-producer Dirk van den Berg, producer Herbert Gehr and cinematograper Henrik Sauer.

Most recently, OutreMer's travels have taken them to Ethiopia. Right from of the hottest music clubs of quirky Addis Ababa comes 'Jamming Addis', a cinematic feature documentary about Ethiopian music and musicians that entertains and breaks taboos and preconceptions. The upcoming 'Guzo' will be a formidable journey through the high mountains, low deserts and unknown regions of Ethiopia, accompanying one man's quest for the origin of music. Both a scientific and an artistic journey, 'Guzo' will be carried out in collaboration with the University of Weimar and the Franz Liszt School of Music.

Other projects in development are investigations into sexuality in the Arab world such as 'Seams of Desire', history bios like 'The German Lawrence' about Britain’s most fierce enemy in the Orient, and filmic essays like 'Art and War'.
