Call for submissions: CNN African Voices My Drive series
CNN Africa is inviting submissions for its African Voices My Drive series.
The youth-focused programme is a weekly show spotlighting leading African talents behind positive change. Its guests take audiences on a drive around a city, discussing their lives, careers and vision.
Leading artists, including Olamide, Stonebwoy, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Fireboy DML, Master KG, Mr Eazi, Niniola and Akon have all been featured on the show.
The call is open to independent African artists who want their music featured on CNN. Selected artists will also have their songs featured on the programme’s official Apple Music playlist, a curated selection of hits from recording artists featured on the show. A recent special edition was curated by Afro-fusion star Burna Boy.
How to apply
Interested musicians may send their music to cnnafricanvoices@cnn.com to have it considered for a feature on the My Drive series or get more details.
Note:
- Artists must have full control of their publishing and masters.
- Submission does not guarantee a feature.
Speaking in a recent episode of the series, Yemi Alade said: “I’m motivated by my personal goals. I have so many things in life that I want to achieve and so many lives I want to touch at the same time. Whenever I hit a mark like that, I feel motivated to move on to the next one.”
She added: “I would say to anyone out there that is interested in being a musical artist or in any industry whatsoever, that the sky is enough for every one of us, it is enough for all the stars in the universe. But the most important thing for you if you want to be a musical artist is to embrace the things that make you sound or look different because those are the things that will literally make you stand out. It’s your special superpower. Don't hide it, don't mask it. Let it shine. The world will recognise and respect you exactly the way you are.”
