Nigeria: Joeboy and Audiomack announce Open Verse Challenge winners
Nigerian artist Joeboy this week announced the winners of his Contour Open Verse Challenge, with singer and songwriter Lukhaid Oba emerging victorious.
The Contour Open Verse Challenge was held in partnership with streaming platform Audiomack and sought to offer emerging musicians an avenue to take their craft to the next level.
The challenge, which followed a similar initiative by fellow Nigerian artist Adekunle Gold, forms part of efforts by Audiomack to support the growth and development of upcoming artists across the continent. It invited interested participants to render an original verse to Joeboy’s single ‘Contour’.
Released weeks ago, ‘Contour’ finds the singer returning to producer Tempoe, who co-worked on 2021’s ‘Sip (Alcohol)’. Steered by a delicate guitar melody, the track explores complicated romantic relationships.
“After reviewing hundreds of entries, we are happy to congratulate Lukhaid Oba on coming out with the top verse,” Audiomack said. “Well done to everyone that participated.”
Lukhaid Oba will receive a home studio equipment set as well as music promotion on Audiomack. Greamar and Nigist came second and third, respectively.
“Thanks to Joeboy for this big opportunity,” Lukhaid Oba said. “I’m grateful for the platform and the win.”
