Call for applications: 2023 Youth Expressions Festival in SA

The festival is designed for youth aged between 18 and 35 with productions that are compelling and exciting.

Young creatives are invited to submit their proposal for the following genres:

• Music
• Musical theatre
• Children’s theatre
• Drama
• Poetry
• Virtual/augmented reality

All proposals are required to have the following to be considered for the festival:

• Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 in 2023.
• Motivation letter of how the production is relevant, meaningful, and entertaining.
• Creative team information that includes biographies and contact details.
• Full script and a brief synopsis and/or a link to the video of the production.
• Four-page narrative treatment (if there is no script or if it will be a devised production).

In addition to the financial support, SAST will provide all selected candidates with artistic and technical support.

All proposals must be submitted to eyct@statetheatre.co.za with ‘Youth Expressions Festival 2023’ in the subject line of the email and reach SAST by 11 November at 3pm CAT.

Note: Applicants who do not receive a response by 5 December should consider their applications unsuccessful.
