Deezer introduces free music quiz feature
Audio streaming platform Deezer has added a new feature to its platform called Music Quiz.
The feature is available to free users with no paid subscription required provided they have or open a new account.
The tool lets users collect points in various quizzes and share them on social media platforms and compete with others. Each of the quizzes is based on a playlist of 10 songs. The users have to guess as quickly as possible which of the four possible answers it is. Each song plays for a maximum of 30 seconds and the faster competitor will earn more points. A total of 100 points can be obtained.
After completing a quiz, users can add the songs to a playlist. There are quizzes specific to artists and genres, but also seasonal content like Holiday Hits and categories like One Hit Wonder, Unusual Features and Better than the Original? The quiz tool can be found in a banner below the flow overview and on the app home page and website.
“We all know real fans who pride themselves on their music knowledge and now we’re giving them the chance to prove it,” Deezer’s vice-president of core product, Alexandra Leloup, said. “Our editorial team has put together a great mix of quizzes that allow users to show off their knowledge to their friends, but also challenge themselves and discover new music in the process. Our vision is to make Deezer more and more interactive and fun, and the music quiz feature is a perfect example of that goal.”
Elsewhere, the streaming platform has teamed up with 14 music industry partners including LyricFind for a European Union-funded project to make lyric translation accessible in EU languages.
Other partners comprise Zebralution, AMAEI, Bardis, .MUSIC, Fleepit, Independent Digital, Lusitanian Music, Mars Music, Metatron, Nord University, Broma 16, RUNDA and Unison Rights, among others.
The EU has approved €2m for the four-year project, called Boosting European Lyrics and their Entrepreneurial Monetisation through the Creative Europe Programme. The project will encourage translations of these lyrics to motivate new revenue streams to key players in the music industry.
