Kenya's Taurus Musik signs Lady Jaydee, Alicios
By signing Tanzanian and Congolese songbirds Lady Jaydee and Alicios Theluji, respectively, Kenyan record label Taurus Musik looks to be wrapping up the year on a high note.
Jumping ship from Tanzania’s Rockstar4000, Jaydee has signed a three-year, two-album deal with Taurus Musik. Welcoming her, the label's vice president for music and lifestyle, Tunde Daniel, stated that they are excited to work with the artist in the new phase of her career. The 'Nitafanya' hitmaker, who has been in the industry for 10 years, has worked with artists such as Kidum and H_art the Band. Jaydee is also working on her first music video under the new label.
Additionally, on a Facebook post, Taurus Musik announced that it’d signed Alicios on a four-year, three-album deal, on 27 November.
“Taurus Musik is extremely proud to officially present our newest artist and Sweden-based Congolese diva Alicios…with Alicios joining the team, Taurus Musik is set to work tirelessly to bring more good music to her teeming fans,” the post read in part.
Alicios is known for her smooth vocals and effortless way of blending the Swahili and Lingala languages on her tracks.
The artist, who is thrilled about the partnership, said she was looking forward to the coming year and thanked music producer Robert Kamanzi who she’d worked with in the past.
“I’m very excited to join you officially at Taurus Musik. Looking forward to walking the walk with you and I’m very excited about next coming year. #TheTaurusTeam thank you guys for all the hard work & the passion,” she wrote.
The record label, which is breaking borders with the two signings, plans to bring on board more artists from the East and Central African regions.
