African stars named in Vevo DSCVR Artists to Watch 2024
African musicians Qing Madi from Nigeria and Libianca from Cameroon have been named by music video network Vevo among artists poised for a global breakthrough in 2024.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Vevo’s DSCVR Artists to Watch (ATW) 2024 campaign platforms emerging stars from around the world through high-quality live performance video content, with two exclusive performances from each artist.
Qing Madi and Libianca join 17 others in the class of 2024 selected from about 600 international submissions. African artists named in the campaign last year included Ayra Starr, Oxlade and Nonso Amadi from Nigeria, who showcased on Vevo’s brand new dedicated set, complete with all new ways for artists to sonically express themselves with custom lighting options and visually striking elements like new entry points, archways, windows and corridors.
Qing Madi, 17, hails from Benin City and is behind the viral single ‘See Finish’. She is currently signed to Columbia/SME. On her part, Libianca, signed to 5K Records/RCA, grew up between Cameroon and the US, blending the sounds of her childhood to create her Afropop-leaning style. She is best known for her song ‘People’.
Vevo’s DSCVR ATW programme is one of the most highly anticipated and competitive lists in the emerging music space. Artists and bands that make it receive critical exposure and promotion that help propel their careers, marketed and featured in Vevo’s expert music video programming via playlists and editorial features across Vevo’s network, including YouTube and connected TV platforms such as Roku, Samsung TV Plus and Apple TV.
“For the past decade, we’ve had the privilege of watching the alumni of this programme go from talented emerging artists to global superstars,” Vevo’s SVP for content, programming and marketing, JP Evangelista, said. “From Billie Eilish to Sam Fender, Ice Spice to Wet Leg, to Feid and beyond, the exceptional amount of diverse talent our past list members have is astounding, to say the least. Today, we are thrilled to announce the line-up for 2024.
“This list is a true passion project for all of Vevo, powered by our in-house team of music lovers who are committed to finding the next big act to shine a spotlight on. With the help of our vast distribution network, marketing and promotional efforts, and top-tier production team, we have the ability to assist these artists in their journey to the top. We consider ourselves so lucky to be even a small part of these exceptional artists’ careers, and are so excited to see the superstars these next 10 years bring.”
Vevo has a long history of supporting and introducing emerging artists to new global audiences. Throughout the past decade, Vevo’s ATW list has included now-global superstars in a wide range of genres, including English singer Sam Smith and US rappers GloRilla and Ice Spice.
