“Fair and equitable remuneration for your art form is critical for artists, songwriters, producers and beatmakers,” Pelham-Leigh said. “Now more than ever knowing how to safeguard your intellectual property and collect royalties is incredibly important for the huge amount of talent in Africa who are permeating across the world. That’s why we are engaging with local experts, songwriters and producers to deliver educational workshops about knowing and protecting your music rights and royalties. We are invested, not just interested.
“We know music royalties and the business of music can be confusing. We are committed to empowering composers, songwriters and artists who write their own music in any capacity, to have longevity in their careers and not leave any money on the table. As a songwriter myself, I advocate for makers of music to understand the long-term value of their creative skillsets and contributions, ensuring due and right remuneration for their works throughout time.”
Escoffery added: “We are extremely excited to be meeting with local experts, creators and entrepreneurs who are passionate about not only making music but having their music work for them.”
