Boomplay’s inaugural BoomFest to kick off in Kenya
Africa-facing music streaming and download platform Boomplay has announced the launch of BoomFest 2024 Kenya edition that will take place at the Dome in Nairobi on 6 April.
BoomFest is part of an annual live concert series planned in various African countries – including Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, and more – in a bid to spotlight national music scenes across the continent and rally its key stakeholders towards the development, progress and unity of their industries.
Boomfest 2024 Kenya edition will celebrate the country’s music with a star-studded artist line-up featuring Khaligraph Jones, Nadia Mukami, Arrow Bwoy, Femi One, Nameless, Bahati, Willy Paul, Ssaru, Boutross, Fathermoh, Wakadinali, Buruklyn Boyz and V-Be. MCs Mwalimu Racheal and Xclusive will be in charge of the proceedings, with assistance from DJ Lyta.
“Boomplay has always been at the forefront of empowering the music industry ecosystem to unlock its full potential,” the company said. “BoomFest Kenya edition is the inaugural music festival powered by Boomplay. It will be an annual event spread across different countries where Boomplay has a presence. Expect an unforgettable experience at BoomFest 2024 as Kenya’s best performers take the stage backed up by superb stage production and audio and visual experience. The festival aims to bridge various gaps that exist in the music industry, starting by promoting artists and empowering their stage performances.”
The festival will run under the theme Unite Embrace and Celebrate, and the tagline Feel the Vibe in Pride.
Commenting on the rationale behind the festival and expectations, Boomplay East Africa managing director Martha Huro said: “Boomplay is poised to continue building assets and creating avenues to spotlight and unlock growth and development for the African music ecosystem. In light of this, we have been translating our unique music offerings beyond the platform to the communities of the music industry towards impact.
“The decision to choose Kenya for the maiden edition of Boomplay’s live music asset, BoomFest, attests to the relevance of our music space and the need for us to amplify what we have, unite towards the greater good of our music industry and emphasise creating a more viable ecosystem for future gains. I am expecting BoomFest Kenya 2024 to make a huge statement for Kenyan artistry and music experience and I look forward to the dialogues and initiatives that will propel us forward from this festival.”
Boomplay said BoomFest Kenya 2024 is envisioned to chart a new course of pride in celebrating Kenyan music while stamping a mark for excellence and quality in music event production.
“Fans will be brought closer to their favourite stars and the music industry united under a curated experience of a high level of performance artistry, unbridled fun and premium entertainment synonymous with the best music festivals on the continent and beyond,” Boomplay added.
